The End of March

We've reached the end of March. We are officially 25% through the year. Can you imagine? Have you completed 25% of your New Year resolutions? I told you not to make any resolutions didn't I?

It's also tax season. Why do we call it tax season? Its not like we get to hunt I.R.S officials, or even better, our political leaders that create the crazy laws the I.R.S. has to follow.

In our family, March is birthday month. Brook turned fourteen on the 15th, Aaron turned eight on the 17th (St. Patricks Day), and the worlds greatest mother-in-law turned ... on the 28th. Ahhhh, I'm not so stupid as to give away her age, but it is fair to say that she is one to two years older than me.

Speaking of my age, I also had a birthday on the 28th. I know this because my mother called and left me a voice mail reminding me of the day. Apparently, she vividly remembers that day of my birth. She mentioned something about long hours, pain and abandonment. I better explain the last one, my dad didn't abandon the family but he didn't make it to the hospital on time for my birth. I don't remember the moment, so I will have to take her word for it.

I don't really have anything smart to say about Brook's birthday. She selected the Kabuki restaurant for her birthday dinner. We did select the perfect night to go out to dinner. In additon to our party, there was another party that night with several people who appeared to have been out for the first time in years. Want a funny tale, ask Big E about the people who ate dinner across from us.

For our birthday (Mom-in-law and I), we spent part of the day helping move the "in laws" to their new home. First, let me say that the new house is really cool. It's a small three bedroom house with a half acre lot. A portion of the lot consists of a swamp, or the "swimming pool" as they like to call it. The only downside that I see to the house is the fact that they will no longer be able to host the family Christmas Eve party.

As for the rest of my birthday, it basically consisted of a new Wii game (Resident Evil) and a few "diet cokes". See, the girls were at their other homes and Big E had to work that evening. Now, that is a good night. Later, when Big E got home, we watched a little TV and ... crashed.

As for tonight, Big E treated me to great evening of fun and laughs. We had dinner at Leks Taste of Tailand downtown at the train station. Of course, it was my treat (is it right that I buy my birthday dinner?). Anyway, that doesnt matter.

We followed the dinner with an evening of comedy supplied by two really funny guys. The first guy was Keith Alberstadt. Keith is a young comedian that is really funny. You can check him out at www.keithcomedy.com.

The headliner of the act was James gregory. If you havent heard of James, shame on you. James was absolutely hilarious. You can find him at http://www.funniestman.com/. This guy has a unique way of telling stories in such a way that everyone can relate. You can not sit through one of his stories without identifying someone in your family that he is talking about. In addition, his show is a PG-13 rated comedy act that you could actually take your parents to enjoy. I'm not going to try and repeat his stories here, but if you are running by a Krispy Kreme in the near future pick me up a couple of hot dozens to go.

Anyway, its after ten o'clock now and at my age that means I will be a pumpkin soon. Before I go, let me say congratulations to the Honky Tonk Hustlas who completed their first professionally recorded CD. You can check them out at http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=168869931.

Until next time, remember, not only does the early bird get the worm, but the early worm gets the .... I heard that tonight at the show. The group sitting in front of us was a fine upstanding group of "darlings" according to Big E. Apparently, "darlings" is a fancy word for redneck, dirt road living hicks that havent seen the light of day in a long time. I thought it was really funny that she would announce that in front of her entire family though.
