A quickie update ...

Its been a couple of weeks, so I figured I better let everyone know that we are still alive. There is not a lot going on around the house these days. I guess you could say that we are all still getting started in the New Year.

Last week, I traveled to Oxford, MS. Regretfully, the trip was business related so I didnt get a chance to check out the town. We did take a quick side trip up to Southaven, MS for diner at Interstate BBQ (ranked the second best BBQ in America). On the down side, they didnt serve beer. On the up side, the BBQ was really good and the sampler plate was entirely too much food for one person. In addition, we met up with an friend and former work mate to catch up on the past year.

Joey, I'm looking forward to visiting again in May. For those not in the know, Memphis throws a month long BBQ and Blues festival each May (creatively titled ... Memphis in May). They host the Worlds BBQ Championship each year and basically have a BIG party. BBQ, beer, baseball, and music sounds like a great excuse to get away to me. We will have to nail down the details on this trip later.

Last weekend, Montgomery got around two inches of snow. Its been six years since we last got snow. It was really fun to watch Rusty run around in the snow. He didn't really like the snow, but he did like the way his tennis balls tasted after the snow stuck to them.

Enough for now! I'm sure that we will have a couple of funnies coming soon. Plus, we might even have a little exciting news coming soon too!

Enjoy 2008, its gonna be great! How's that for cheesy?

Welcome to the New Year ...

So, its a New Years? Did you have a good New Years, or ...

For New Years, I managed to get sick. I guess I better explain this one a little bit. I don't mean that I drank and partied too much and felt bad the next day, I mean I got sick. Starting on the day after Christmas, I began to feel bad, and the day after that, I was down for the count.

On the day after New Years, I gave up and went to the doctor (of course, I tried going to work first). Sinus Infection!!!! That might explain the vast amount of off colored stuff coming from my nose, chest, etc. Anyway, thanks to the vast number of "nurses" in our house, I am well now.

By nurse, I am referring to our loving daughters. Since Jessica had to work, I was stuck with Brooke to help out and make sure that I was fine. To Brooke's credit, she did manage to stay away from me and she didn't make too much noise. Of course, she spent her entire day and night on the Internet ignoring me, which may explain the quiet but I will take it.

Finally after visiting the doctor, he provided me with enough drugs to kill the average horse. This guy had me taking a steroid, anti-histamine, and some other crappy pill the size of a Twinkie. After a week and a half of taking these things, I'm finally back to normal.

As if that wasn't enough fun, we decided to turn it up a notch since New Years.

Little Elizabeth had her sixteenth birthday on the fifth. Since her mother had a party planned for her, we decided to wait till this weekend to celebrate. For a change, the birthday bash occured at an "American" restaurant, Red Lobster. We had a great dinner.

For her birthday, Lil Bit racked up!!! I especially want to thank Mom who gave Elizabeth a beautiful ring. The ring is really special since it was the first real ring that she ever bought for herself as a kid. I know it meant a lot to her (Mom) to have a grand daughter to give the ring to, and it meant a lot to Lil Bit to receive it.

As if the birthday party wasn't fun enough, we had one other big "todo" for the weekend. To her credit, Jessica has managed to keep mum about the car situation since the accident. Its not that Big E and I haven't wanted to replace the vehicle, but until today we haven't found a vehicle that fit our needs and price. This morning we found a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu in the price range that we could afford. The car is a little high on mileage but it appears to be in relatively good condition.

We found the vehicle at a small family owned dealership in Dadeville, AL. The name of the dealership is McKelvey Chevrolet. The people at this dealership were really nice and worked with us to insure that we could afford the car. The important thing is that Jessica likes that car!

So, its a New Year, new adventures and new stories are bound to find their way into our lives. Stay tuned to see how I manage to survive the hijinks that these girls are planning..
