Whew!!!!!!!!!! What a week.
Jessica returned from her whirlwind trip through the North East. She really enjoyed the trip but was very tired upon her return. Then ....
Last Saturday was Alfa Family day at the Montgomery Biscuits game. We had a great time at the park with our friends and co-workers. Elizabeth baked a pound cake for the "bake off", but she didnt win.
On Sunday morning, we woke up with a sick Jessica. She spent most of the day running between the sofa and the bathroom. Regretfully, this continued into the evening and was causing a big issue with her blood sugars. So, we took her to the emergnecy room Sunday evening.
That little trip to the hospital turned into a two day event including a helicopter ride to the Childrens Hospital in Birmingham and two days in the PICU. The Childrens Hospital in Birmingham is a fantastic facility with many talented doctors. After two days, they managed to get Jessica's sugar levels back in control and sent us home.
Other than that, Elizabeth and I have been planning our upcoming trip. We have less than two weeks left before we depart for Disney. The excitement is really starting to build. Of course there is a lot that needs to be completed before our trip.
While we are out, we have a couple of special guests that will be sitting wth the house and keeping the girls in line. I hope that they are saving up their energy because they will need it. I have no doubt that a few stories will come from that week.
Speaking of travel, I am also trying to plan the rest of my May. I will be traveling each week throughout Mississippi with my job. All told, I will be in Montgomery for a total of four days during the month (excluding the weekends).
A special thanks goes out to my mom this week for helping us with the girls while we were in Birmingham.
I thought I lived in a democracy until they became teenagers. My life with my girls. And now with my grill!

Who says excercise doesnt pay ...
I'm sorry that the blogs have been a little slow in the typing of late. We've been a busy little family of late.
Jessica returned safe and sound from her trip to Boston and Niagara. Highlights from the trip include:
This past Friday was Big E's birthday. She celebrated her birthday by working till 10:30 that night. The girls and I celebrated her birthday at the Kabuki restaurant. I dont think she enjoyed her birthday as much as we enjoyed it. We will be celebrating her birthday with her later in the week at the Ox Yoke restaurant in Wetumpka.
Speaking of going places, its only twenty days till Big E and I go to spend a week with Mickey Mouse and friends. We are really excited about the trip. In addition to seeing Disney, we will be visiting with my sister and the twins at their new house.
Little E and I have been slacking on our training. We are planning to run in the Jubilee Cityfest 8K run on Memorial Day Weekend. Although we havent been on top of our game lately, I can really tell that the running is helping me. I still have to stop and walk for more of the distance than run, but my knees are starting to feel better and it takes longer before my back hurts.
I was really starting to believe that excercise was a good thing until I went to the doctor last week. Apparently all the excercise has increased my appetite because I have gained ten pounds since January of this year. I thought the running would help me to lose some weight?
Jessica returned safe and sound from her trip to Boston and Niagara. Highlights from the trip include:
- Seeing the Blue Man Group while in Boston. They sat front row!!
- Seeing a Boston Celtics basketball game while in Boston.
- Seeing Niagara Falls while in Canada. Regretfully, they didnt get to enjoy the Journey Behind the Falls tour due to the weather.

A short one ...
Happy April! Did you try any April Fool's Day pranks? I did not, but I hope it worked it you did try one.
Little E and I were supposed to run another 5K race this weekend, but since neither of us were prepared we chickened out.
I finally got my haircut on my birthday (a number two clipper is long enough for me). At the rate that my hair grows, I can actually put off that stressful event for six months to a year. Afterwards, even after waiting that long between cuts, the floor barely has any hair on it.
Jessicas big trip is officially here. Apparently, a week long trip requires a weeks worth of shopping and buying. By the way, the key word in the previous sentence was buying (warm clothes, jackets, etc). Anyway, she leaves on Wednesday for Boston and Niagara Falls. Hopefully, we will get a full blog on that topic when she returns.
In case you missed it, the baseball season has officially kicked off. For our family, it means that we are in the process of determining our new favorite team. Since the Braves decided that they didnt need the services of Javy Lopez, they are no longer our favorite team. I missed the vote on that decision. Anyway, I havent been able to watch baseball since the first Braves spring training game (Javy was still with the team on that day!).
The Montgomery Biscuits had their second game of the season last night. If you aren't familiar with the "Biscuits", shame on you. Anyway, we were lucky enough to go to the company box seats for the evening. We had a great time; the Biscuits won the game and a nice fireworks display immediately followed the game.
So today, Big E and I were out at Target picking up a few items. We had a list about half mile long of needless, some what needed, and I cant go again without it items. After about an hour and half of walking through the place, we were finally at the check out. To speed things up, Elizabeth handed me two items (two new hair driers) to take to the 10 items or less lane. Without thinking, I took the driers and headed to the fast lane.
As I moved up to the counter for my turn to check out, the young lady behind the counter snickered. I looked a little perplexed by her reaction, so she commented ... "New hair driers huh?". After an uncomfortable pause of silence, I finally realized why she was laughing. Apparently, men with quarter inch long hair dont usually buy a hair dryer much less two.
